A Construction Engineer/ Construction Project Engineer is needed for a leading water & wastewater utility. The Construction Engineer/ Construction Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing a variety of water & wastewater capital projects and construction initiatives. Qualified candidate must have a BS in Engineering or construction Management, and 3+ years' of experience overseeing capital utility projects. Candidates without a degree who possess related experience may also be considered. This is a permanent position located in Fort Walton Beach, FL, and some relocation assistance may be budgeted for qualified regional candidates.

Responsibilities for the Project Engineer

  • Oversee all aspects of assigned capital projects; coordinate internal and external resources towards the completion of assigned capital projects while working closely with operations, customer service, engineering, and water quality teams

  • Develop detailed scopes of work and cost estimates for projects and provides detailed scopes and technical information for project Requests for Proposals

  • Supervises, coaches and counsels capital staff as required; Prepare, monitor and report on project schedules and budgets

  • Monitor quality control and inspection activities on assigned projects and implement corrective actions when required

  • Conduct professional management and contract administration of third party providers of services and goods including engineering and environmental consultants, land surveyors, construction contractors, material and equipment vendors, materials testing and inspection firms, etc.

Requirements for the Project Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management is preferred, candidates with strong Capital Project Inspector or Capital Project Coordinator experience will also be considered

  • 3+ years' of relevant experience in managing public works and/or public utility projects, water/ wastewater is preferred

  • Knowledge of and experience using project management software such as Primavera and MS Project preferred

  • Prior experience managing third party providers of services and goods
