The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic repairs machinery or mechanical equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Examines machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble.

  • Dismantles or partly dismantles machines and performs repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts.

  • Replaces broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock.

  • Orders the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sends the machine to a machine shop for major repairs.

  • Prepares written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shop.

  • Assembles machines and makes all necessary adjustments for operation.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have three (3) to five (5) years as a Machinery Maintenance Mechanic.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Requires rounded training and experience, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship.
