Role Summary:

In order to address needs for Lead Time Reduction, Factory Productivity, Engineering/Manufacturing coordination and increased robustness of NPI deliverables, The incumbent will develop and lead strategies to ensure overall execution of manufacturing programs and operations. This includes horizontal leadership/collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Segment Teams and Sourcing to ensure effective launch of new products, concurrent engineering programs, advanced manufacturing opportunities.

Essential Responsibilities:

Align DFMEA with PFMEA process to concurrently address risk assessment of design and manufacturing processes

Establish a block cut-in transition process to minimize factory churn and drive rigor in cut in dates for Engineering design changes for cost out, productivity & reliability

Seek early engagement and optimization of Design for Assembly, Sourcing, Servicing for field and Factory

Explore and define digital thread processes to expedite handoff of data between Engineering, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Project & Services and provide mechanisms to achieve 100% digital assembly drawings and ready access to work instructions, product manufacturing information

Expand the business Digital Thread process development to include efficient consumption of 3D model data, PLM data mining and coordination/implementation of the OnePart process. Provide the push/pull business drivers for operationalization of moving 3D part data into the production environment and Design for Manufacturing/Design for Assembly familiarization/actualization in NPI design.

Change the culture and development process from today’s serial connection (PRD to Design to BOM to Source to Build) to a concurrent model with more overlap between traditional functions, earlier engagement of “downstream” processes and more network-style (mission-based teams) organization.

Partner with quality leadership to drive process rigor and control in the design, development and manufacture of new products.

Direct responsibility for global execution of manufacturing technology and concurrent engineering programs.

Engage with product line, engineering, sourcing and manufacturing teams to drive improvements in product platforming, modularity and multi-generational product plans. Ensure manufacturing capabilities exist or will be in place to support product development strategies.


  • Engineering Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in leading Production including launch of major NPIs, Wing to Wing Plant operations, production planning, inventory management principles and practices, and/or materials management discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with Wind Turbine Manufacturing and Engineering Experience Desired Characteristics:

  • Master Black Belt certification and proven experience for + 5 years

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work effectively across departments and organizations to ensure best early Concurrent Development to challenging Quality, Cost and Timing launch targets

  • Additional cross-functional leadership experience in the areas of Operations, Engineering, and/or Quality is preferred.

  • Responsible for meeting customer/business needs with superior results

  • Experience Managing cross functional complex multi-dimensional matrix
